ODINT // CRYPT Browser Extension
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Plain-language summary. ODINT // CRYPT has two parts. The Live tab identifies the technologies on the page in front of you by reading that page inside your own browser; what it finds stays on your device and is never transmitted. The Crypt tab connects to an ODINT // CRYPT archive server: only when you open that tab, or when you choose to archive a site, does the extension send the web address (URL) of the current page to that server. The extension collects nothing in the background, does not read your browsing history, uses no analytics or tracking of any kind, and shares nothing with third parties.
This policy describes how the ODINT // CRYPT browser extension handles information. It is written from what the software actually does, and every statement in it is meant to be checked against the extension's code, which ships unminified inside the extension package, and its network traffic.
Operator. Net Works Lab LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, with its principal office at 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801.
Scope. This policy applies to the ODINT // CRYPT extension for Chromium browsers distributed through the Chrome Web Store. It is a separate document from the general Net Works privacy policy that covers the company website and our other services. Where the two differ as to the extension, this document governs.
When you open the extension's popup on a web page, the Live tab reads that one page in your browser and matches what it finds against a technology fingerprint database that is bundled inside the extension. To do this it reads, locally:
The results (technologies, versions, contact and company details the page publishes about itself, tracker identifiers, security headers, the hosts the page talks to) are shown in the popup and discarded when it closes. They are not stored and not transmitted. The Export button saves them as a file on your own computer, only when you click it.
The Live tab runs only on the tab you open the popup on, only at that moment, through the browser's "active tab" grant. It does not run on other tabs, in the background, or on pages you have not opened the popup on.
The Crypt tab and the archive commands talk to the ODINT // CRYPT archive server configured in the extension's settings (default: https://networks-corp.com/ODINT, a private service that requires a Net Works account). Data is sent only in these cases:
| Data | Sent To | When |
|---|---|---|
| The URL of the current tab, to look up what the archive holds for that site | Your configured archive server | Only when you open the Crypt tab |
| The URL of the page or link you chose to archive, your "seal the page" choice, and the optional note you typed | Your configured archive server | Only when you click Archive, choose the right-click menu item, or press Alt+Shift+O |
| Status requests for captures you started | Your configured archive server | While a capture you started is running, so a notification can tell you when it is done |
| Session cookies for the archive server, if you are signed in to it | Attached by the browser to requests to that same server | With each request to that server |
That is the complete list. When you archive a site, the archive server then visits the site itself, from its own network position, to audit it, fingerprint it and seal a copy of the page. That visit is made by the server, not through your browser; the page's content does not pass through the extension.
The transmitted URL is used for exactly one purpose: to show you, and on your request to create, the archived record of that site's web stack. This is the extension's single purpose, and the data collected is limited to what that purpose requires. The URL is not used for advertising, is not sold, is not used to build profiles, and is not transferred to anyone except the archive server you addressed the request to. This use complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
(a) Settings (the archive server address and whether to seal pages by default) are kept in the browser's extension sync storage. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome replicates this storage across your own browsers through your Google account; that replication is performed by Chrome, not by the extension.
(b) Captures in progress (the identifier and host of captures you started) are kept in session storage until they finish, so the extension can notify you. A short completion record is kept in local extension storage. None of it is transmitted except as the status requests in section 2.
Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.
(a) Nothing leaves your device without you. The Live tab transmits nothing. The extension contacts the archive server only when you open the Crypt tab or choose to archive a site.
(b) You choose the server. The settings page lets you point the extension at any ODINT // CRYPT server you control. Pointing it at a new host triggers a browser permission prompt, and no request is made to that host unless you grant it.
(c) Deleting your data. Archived captures are managed in the archive's own interface by whoever operates it. For captures on the hosted Net Works archive, you may also use the contact address in section 13.
| Permission | Why the Extension Needs It |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Read the page in the tab you opened the popup on, at that moment only, for the Live tab |
| scripting | Run the Live tab's reader inside that one page, using the active-tab grant |
| storage | Keep your settings and captures in progress, as described in section 5 |
| alarms | Check back on a capture you started if the browser pauses the extension while it runs |
| contextMenus | Provide the right-click "Archive this site" menu items |
| notifications | Show a local desktop notification when a capture you started finishes or fails |
| Host access to networks-corp.com | Call the default ODINT // CRYPT archive server |
| Optional host access (any site) | Requested only if and when you configure your own archive server, limited to that server's origin, and only after you approve the browser's permission prompt |
The technology fingerprints and icons the Live tab matches against are bundled in the extension and are used offline; the extension does not download detection rules or code at run time. They include data from the open-source webappanalyzer project, distributed under the GNU General Public License version 3, and the extension is distributed under the same license. Its license and notices are included in the extension package.
The extension embeds no third-party services, calls no third-party APIs, and sells or shares no data with anyone. The only network endpoints it contacts are the archive server you configure and, for the Live tab's header check, the website you are already viewing. The default archive at networks-corp.com is served through Cloudflare, which acts as network infrastructure for that site in the same way it does for any visit to it.
On your device, Live tab results are discarded when the popup closes, captures in progress are removed when they finish, and settings persist until you change them or uninstall. On the server side, archived captures persist in the archive until removed by its operator or account holder; the extension itself retains nothing.
The extension is a general-audience research tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because the extension has no messaging channel to you, this page is the single place to check; the Chrome Web Store listing links to it.
